82 THE NEW BARKER www.TheNewBarker.com Wherever you live or from wherever you’re traveling, put Grace on your dining itinerary. The food is serious, as in seriously delicious. The service is warm and expertly timed - graceful, you could say. It’s located in the quaint beach town of historic Pass- a-Grille, the southernmost end of St. Pete Beach. The town is named for the 18th century “grilleurs” who would stop on the beaches to smoke their day’s catch preserving it for their trip home. Lisa Masterson and Marlin Kaplan moved to TierraVerde to retire. But, having been a restaurateur for 30-plus years, Kaplan came out of retirement to create his 10th restaurant. An elegant dining spot without being intimidating, the owners’ sense of style and humor shine with the decor and cocktail menu. Framed photos of Seth Casteel’s Underwater Dogs adorning the walls is a nice touch. Signature cocktails are named after the beach’s local dogs. Going out to eat is to experience new tastes and artfully-plated presentations. It’s a reminder to savor a moment. It’s taking the first bite off the fork that makes you close your eyes, which elicits a barely audible sigh of epicurean delight. And, each bite that follows is just as good as the first one.
