Spring 2018 THE NEW BARKER 51 www.TheNewBarker.com Against the Wild, the movie. Reviewed by Amelia Ann (age 9). “Against the Wild” was about two kids, their dog Chinook, and the pilot Charley who flies the sea plane to take them to see their dad. They have to make an emergency landing where Charley gets hurt very badly and does not get up.The movie takes place in the woods where the sea plane crashed. The kids, Zach and Hannah, take Chinook into the woods to go find help. My favorite part of the movie was when Chinook helped Hannah and Zach when there were wolves. I would recommend this movie for families. I liked the movie so much I even watched it two times! We enjoyed an opportunity to pre-screen the film Boundaries before its June 22 national opening. The cast includes Christopher Plummer,Vera Farmiga and Lewis MacDougall, plus an ensemble of kooky characters played by Bobby Cannavale, Christopher Lloyd and Peter Fonda. And of course, the dogs - lots and lots of rescue dogs. With all of those ingredi- ents, what’s not to love? Laura (Farmiga) is a struggling single mother living with her maladjusted yet exceptionally talented 14-year-old son Henry (MacDougall). He has been expelled from school for drawing a naked portrait of his principal. In order to get Henry into an art school where he can thrive,Laura strikes a deal with her misfit father Jack (Plummer). It involves a road trip and more dogs. Setting boundaries to keep from getting hurt is what Laura has tried to do ever since her father left when she and her sister were young. The stray dogs she ends up adopting always seem to find her. After witnessing his mother get hurt by a man for the umpteenth time, Henry tells her, “Now I understand why you collect dogs.” Written and directed, from the heart and personal experience, by Shana Feste (Endless Love,Country Strong), the story is about family, friends, reconciliation and forgiveness. A Sony Pictures Classics film in conjunction with Stage 6 Films, Automatik Entertainment, Oddfellows Entertainment, and Quiet Girls. Reviewed by Anna Cooke. Boundaries.
