One hundred percent of alldrink proceeds benefited Pet Pal AnimalShelter. The restaurants spokesdog Lola,was the grand dam of the event, makingsure her furpals were well taken care of.Guests were asked to bring a supply itemoff the Pet Pal Wish List. Each guest whodonated an item was eligible to win a get-away to The Keystone Motel, right onSt. Pete Beach, plus Breakfast for two atthe Hurricane Seafood Restaurant. Food and drinks were providedby numerous sponsors including Beef O Bradys andWrights Gourmet. The silent and live auction items were a crowd favoriteand ranged from an autographed Lightening jersey to a beauti-fully unique Gold and Diamond Source octopus charm neck-lace. A copy ofThe New Barker was given to every player, guestand tucked into auction items. The tennis tournament began on Saturday and semi-finalsand finals were held on Sunday. Local businesses and rescuegroups had booths. Local food trucks were on site.GregJones, Owner and Managing Director of Buckhorn Springs,was the perfect host, making it an outstanding inaugural event.FoHCAS is a local non-profit that works to benefit theshelter animals at Pet Resource Center (formerly HillsboroughCounty Animal Services).FoHCAS is a unique entity in thatthey are not a physical rescue but the medical link between theshelter and rescues, adopters and fosters. They benefit the ani-mals by paying for any treatable medical condition, which willallow a rescue to pull the animal or an adopter to take it home Greg Jones and his dog Brownie.as their own. Everyone involved with FoHCAS is an unpaid Friends of Hillsborough County Animal Services (FoHCAS)volunteer.
