In 2012, Harbor House opened its on-site Paws for Peace Kennel after a nation-wide survey revealed that 65% of domestic violence survivors delay leaving an abusive home for fear their pets would be maimed or killed. Can you imagine leaving your beloved pet behind with someone who might hurt or even kill them?
The Paws for Peace Walk ensures that domestic violence survivors in Orange County don’t have to choose between their own lives or the lives of their beloved pets. All funds raised at the event go toward supporting survivors of domestic violence and providing the complete and loving care of pets in sanctuary at Harbor House.
